Plant Fitter

**Plant Fitter and Fabricator**

WL Straughan & Son Ltd are looking for an experienced Plant Fitter and Fabricator to join our growing team.

This role will primarily focus on the maintenance, repairs, and servicing of a wide range of plant (including the use of diagnostic equipment). Our fleet covers both agricultural and construction equipment, including screens and excavators. Some site support may be required, including 24 hours call out cover.

Ad-hoc projects will also require input and support. A good problem-solving approach and an ability to innovate are key for this role.

Previous experience essential.

Driving license required.

Basic computer literacy.

£17 to £18/hr (depending on experience)

- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and assembly of structural steel components
- Measure, cut, shape, and fit steel components using hand tools and power tools
- Weld and fabricate steel components using various welding techniques, including stick welding
- Assemble and install structural steel components according to specifications
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure that finished products meet industry standards
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects

- Previous experience as a Fitter or in a similar role
- Proficient in welding techniques, including stick welding
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in metal fabrication
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and equipment maintenance

**Salary**: £17.00-£18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 47.5 per week
