The Role

Kortext Product design team is currently recruiting for a junior - middleweight UI Visual designer. You will be joining a team of 5 designers that work across multiple Kortext Arcturus products.

In this role, you will help shape user experience and visual identity of Kortext Arcturus platform directly impacting institutional library workflows, reading list management processes in Higher education institutions, and supporting emerging commercial and technology partner opportunities.

You will be responsible for developing static and motion illustrations as well as design of UI elements that shape Kortext Arcturus platform. This role will also include designing visual storytelling flows that help drive business value to the product (landing pages and marketing materials).

Other companies might call this role UI designer, Product designer, Graphic Designer or Visual Designer - what’s important to us is the value you bring to our Product design team.

Key Skills & Personal Attributes

VISUAL DESIGN SKILLS
- Excellent illustration, motion design and visual storytelling skills
- Understanding of typography, layout, colour theory, usability, and design principles
- Good understanding of the principles of UI/UX
- Strong design portfolio with 2-3 projects demonstrating visual design skills

TECHNICAL SKILLS
- High proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite - primarily Illustrator, After Effects and Photoshop
- Working knowledge of Figma

DESIGN PRINCIPLES SKILLS
- Ability to create concepts and ideas
- The ability to produce high quality, pixel perfect static and motion graphics within a set timeframe
- A commitment to designing based on best practices, data, and brand, rather than opinion and aesthetic preferences
- The ability to handle constructive feedback
- The ability to ensure timely completion and exceptional quality of projects
- A solid grounding in usability and accessibility considerations

COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Be fluent in the English language
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in presenting concepts to internal stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-starter requiring mínimal supervision with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload
