Payroll Supervisor

Corepeople Recruitment are working with a Gateshead based company in the recruitment of a new senior member of their finance team. This is to support the Finance Director day to day and oversee the running of a busy payroll function.
The Role
This is a great opportunity to manage a small friendly team, supporting with the management of accounts including invoices, sub-contractor payments and payroll. As a Payroll Supervisor, the post holder will become an integral part of the finance function. Thisperson will be responsible for a small team of Accounts Assistants who provide purchase ledger and payroll support to the different businesses within the group and their duties will include:
Managing and assisting purchase ledger/payroll team members as required, monitoring outputs.
Processing staff expenses and mileage claims
Pro-actively resolving invoice variances with suppliers and operations, and supplier statement reconciliations
Raise BACS runs on a timely basis.
Perform regular housekeeping checks and ensure ledgers are tidy.
Create and maintain supplier/subcontractor account data.
Dealing with and resolving supplier, site and auditor queries/requests.
Working to meet deadlines in accordance with month-end closedown timetable.
Raising ad hoc individual payment requests when necessary.
Providing reporting from a cashflow and cash forecasting perspective of outgoing payments.
Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance Department by assisting the Finance Director in identifying and implementing improved processes and procedures.
Responsibility for the weekly payroll all group companies.
Processing of monthly payroll
VAT reconciliations and returns for the group companies.
The Payroll Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring that the following duties are completed in a timely manner:
Managing and processing purchase invoices in the accounting system (Sage, EQUE2) for the group companies.
Coding invoices and ensuring all invoices are duly authorised.
Reconciliation of supplier statements in a timely manner.
Processing of Subcontractor supplier payments in accordance with the HMRC guidelines.
Experience & Qualifications
Remuneration
Circa £30,000 to £35,000 per annum.
