**Salary**:£24,200 per annum pro rata (£12,100 actual)

**Contract Length**: Until 31 October 2024 (then dependent on funding)

**JOB SUMMARY**:
NNRF provides a safe and welcoming space for asylum seekers and refugees. As our Community Café host your role will be ensure the provision of food and refreshments to visitors to the Forum, coordinate volunteers and activities in the Café/waiting area and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.

With support from staff and volunteers, the Café Host will actively promote a culture of welcome, diversity and mutual respect within NNRF. This role forms part of a job-share arrangement.

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Welcome clients and other visitors to NNRF
- Ensure high food hygiene standards are upheld through kitchen management processes and relevant training
- Oversee the cooking of food and refreshments
- Ensure the cafe area is kept tidy and clean
- Monitor and replenish stock of refreshments and cooking ingredients
- Coordinate and supervise Community Café volunteers
- Record and monitor café data
- Work in partnership with the other Café Host
- De-escalate potential conflicts in an appropriate manner
- Develop the café to meet the needs of the Forum

**COMMUNICATION**
- Act with courtesy and sensitivity to all clients and visitors
- Actively engage with visitors and direct them to appropriate waiting space or service location
- Delegate and communicate effectively with project volunteers through regular meetings and rotas
- Work closely with colleagues at the Forum

**ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Attend staff meetings and cooperate in personnel procedures such as appraisal and supervision
- Work with other staff as designated, help prepare and set up events such as Refugee Week, conferences and AGMs.
- Support other NNRF services i.e. General Advice when required.

**Training and Qualifications**
- Level 2 Food Hygiene or willing to train toward (E)
- De-escalation or conflict resolution/ restorative practice training (D)

**Knowledge and Experience**
- Experience of volunteering or working in hospitality or community venue (E)
- Understanding of good food hygiene practices (E)
- Experience of leading a team (D)
- Experience of working or volunteering with refugees and asylum seekers (D)
- Lived experience of forced migration (D)

**Skills and Abilities**
- To be able to cook for 50 people (E)
- Be able to manage a budget (E)
- Meet Food hygiene and Health and Safety standards (E)
- Able to remain calm and deal with difficult situations or people (E)
- Able to organise workload and prioritise tasks (E)
- Be comfortable with IT and use of data (E)
- Fluency in a language of refugee communities (D)

- Able to relate sensitively to a wide range of people from many different ethnic, religious and  cultural backgrounds
- Able to empathise with the life experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and recognise their possible effects on needs, attitudes and behaviour

- Able to maintain good professional relationships with colleagues in other agencies
- Able to work in a co-operative, supportive manner within a small team

- Good time-manager, able to work on own initiative
- Willingness to work variable hours, including out of hours and/or at weekends as needed

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
