Thank you for your interest in the role of Digital Infrastructure operational researcher.

The analyst team works directly with the policy teams in developing and quantifying effective policy interventions, feeding in evidence, providing insight and assessing impact throughout. We track and predict fixed network rollout and quantify its benefits to society.

**Person specification**:
The post holder will have responsibility for
- Ensuring updates of data are incorporated in a timely fashion to our extensive databases using a range of tools, including R and SQL.
- Maintaining and developing interactive dashboards and tools to showcase our data and the impact of our policies through detailed maps and charts. There is scope for the role holder to be imaginative and experimental here
- Engaging senior decision makers with delivery complexities highlighted in the data
- Ensuring commercially sensitive data is handled in accordance with a variety of data sharing agreements and non-disclosure agreements
- Liaising with counterparts in telecoms operators to ensure we receive build progress updates promptly
- Working with the team to continuously improve data standards to ensure the quality of underlying data is properly caveated and understood
- Working with delivery teams to ensure information is applied consistently
- Working with the rest of the modelling team to ensure data is fit for purpose to feed modelling in support of submissions and business cases on UK connectivity
- Responding to requests for information about UK and local coverage

Essential Requirements:

- Delivering at pace: Take responsibility for delivering timely and quality results with focus and drive.
- Communicating and influencing: Have strong communication skills and the ability to help communicate technical analysis effectively to non-experts
- Managing a quality service: Be able to develop, implement and maintain and review systems and services (e.g. data sets and provision of analysis). Involve a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders in developing suggestions for improvements
- Coding and data analysis: Experience of using a programming language such as SQL, R or Python to collate, clean and analyse complex data to produce usable insights

Desirable Skills:

- A track record of working closely with policy and analysis colleagues and in putting analytical work into a policy context.
- A collaborative approach to sharing experience, expertise and findings across organisational boundaries as appropriate
- Experience using the Google Cloud Platform and Google Data Studio
- Experience analysing geospatial data and producing visualisations such as maps
