About the role

The Service team are responsible for Supporting a wide haulier base with the movement of stock from a Supplier into a Tesco Distribution Centre. They also answer queries from Tesco Primary Hauliers, Suppliers, DC’s and Supply Chain colleagues. These can be complex and each team member must be able to work to a high standard, have great attention to detail and be able to communicate with all work levels within Tesco.

You will be responsible for
- Working alongside members of the Primary Distribution team to help support Tesco suppliers and Primary hauliers to deliver cost effective and efficient supply chain solutions
- Collaborating cross functionally with our Suppliers, Hauliers, Distribution Centres, Supply Chain, Commercial and Finance teams to improve and deliver great service levels
- Leading day to day operations to ensure a smooth running of the Primary Support Office, including overseeing customer queries, ensuring timely and accurate reports are sent out to the wider business and daily shift handovers are taking place
- Managing a rolling shift pattern, ensuring there is adequate cover in place including shift swaps and overtime where applicable, and holiday gaps are covered
- Guiding and coaching the Primary Support Office to ensure operational tasks are completed to the best standard, sharing knowledge and experience, and holding upskilling sessions as and when required
- Working in collaboration with the Primary Service Account Managers to ensure the Primary Support Office provides clear and regular updates and actively resolves any day to day operational issues to enable the growth of the Primary Distribution network
- Leading change and development to drive simplification of routines, including databases and supporting tools, whilst looking to automate and reduce tasks where required
- Using data to analyse and spot trends to meet KPI targets and make improvements to our network
- Leading a monthly team meeting for the Primary Support Office, providing a business update, and ensuring that any feedback and concerns during the meeting are addressed
- Overseeing the weekly training plan and shift pattern allocation, to enable the development of the Primary Support Office and ensure Colleagues are allocated a variety of shared inboxes and are kept upskilled on tasks
- Ensuring the key tools and resources are kept up to date by the Primary Support Office, including OneNote, shared folder/files and Ways of Working, and these are referenced regularly as a source of information
- Managing the General Merchandise (GM) category within Primary Distribution, regularly reviewing haulier and supplier performance through formal/informal reviews and weekly reporting, supporting with robust plans for promotions and seasonal peaks by working alongside Supply Chain, and ensuring all hauliers comply with Primary processes

- Awareness and understanding of transport systems and product ordering systems
