The focus of this role is to work under the direction of the Print and E-Resources Metadata Specialists to ensure timely access to and discoverability of newly acquired and existing modern collections in a variety of physical and electronic formats. The post-holder will be required to follow current international library cataloguing standards whilst working efficiently and accurately to ensure compliance with our service level agreements and metadata quality control measures.

Alongside cataloguing newly acquired print and electronic resources, the post-holder will also be responsible for ensuring bibliographic database integrity by updating and enriching MARC records both individually and as part of bulk metadata-management processes.

The Metadata and Discovery Team has a flexible, service-oriented approach to supporting workload, and the post holder will support all aspects of the teams work, with training provided where necessary. We are therefore looking for someone who meets the essential criteria in the job description as well as an ability and willingness to develop their metadata-creation and cataloguing skills for different resource formats and material types.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to work accurately, quickly and with attention to detail, showing excellent cataloguing and metadata management skills. Knowledge of one or more modern languages other than English would also be advantageous.
