**Strategic Communications and Planning Lead, London, Permanent**

The Strategic Communications and Planning Lead is responsible for communications horizon scanning and intelligence-gathering. They will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including C-suite, to ensure that Pay.UK's communications activity is strategic and integrated, and that it supports Pay.UK's wider business planning, as well as the delivery of our purpose and vision, and our strategy.

The Strategic Communications and Planning team is the first port of call for any communications requests across the organisation and maintains the communications planning grid. The team is also responsible for managing the deployment of resource across the wider communications team and will hold the pen on all communications plans and campaigns in the first instance. The Strategic Communications and Planning Lead is also responsible for Pay.UK's brand strategy and the management of assets and our website.

This role forms part of the senior leadership team within Communications at Pay.UK. The Strategic Communications and Planning Lead will work with the Head of Communications, and the Reputation and Communications Delivery Leads, to run an integrated and agile Communications team to support the needs of the business.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Communications horizon scanning and intelligence-gathering - working with Pay.UK's leadership and colleagues across the organisation to identify communications opportunities and actions to help protect and enhance our reputation
- Owns the brand strategy, and architecture for Pay.UK and all its services,
- Own, develop and maintain the communications planning grid, sharing it with the wider organisation, working with the business planning team
- Develop tools to define communications planning and processes, and manage delivery, in conjunction with the Communications Delivery Lead
- Lead the management of UK assets, trademarks, and Pay.UK enquiries and external mailboxes
- Lead the strategy, management of the Pay.UK external facing websites,
- Lead UK's internal design and creative team
- Provides clear brand leadership and guidance around the delivery of communications, in conjunction with the Communications Delivery Lead
- Leads and participates in the development of best practice in Strategic Communications and ensures the Communications team individually and collectively serve as a centre of excellence
- Supplier management - own the relationship with the website provider and creative agencies, ensuring we get value for money and excellent support
- Owns the relationship with outsourced communications team (Bacs Marketing team) and, in conjunction with Communications Delivery and Reputation Leads oversees their work. This includes contract management, budget management and regular engagement, as well as liaising with Bacs product owners
- Part of the Communications leadership team, support the Head of Communications on business continuity, crisis communications and reputation management
- Support the wider Communications team to gather and disseminate information, and deliver projects internally and externally
- Lead and support integrated strategic communications campaigns across the organisation in an agile fashion, working in a matrix environment with Industry Engagement to ensure seamless and coordinated delivery
- Develop and implement evaluation tools, owns the implementation of lessons learnt to ensure the effectiveness of communications and supports the Head of Communications in identifying and delivering learning and development opportunities to enhance the skillset of the Communications team
- Own UK's brand and be a brand ambassador for Pay.UK
- Deputise for the Head of Communications as required

Other obligations:

- Ensure compliance with all UK policies and procedures and complete required compliance training in a timely manner.
- Comply with Pay.UK's Data Protection Policy and all associated procedures and processes and communicate any data protection risks to the Data Protection team without delay.
- Promote diversity and inclusion across Pay.UK to build a workforce that reflects the users we serve and provides equal opportunity for all colleagues.

**Skills, Experience & Qualifications**:

- Business relevant qualification to degree/ Masters' level or equivalent experience
- Significant professional qualification and/or experience at a leadership level in strategic communications, brand and planning
- Experience in the financial services sector and strong understanding of the regulatory environment, experience in payments not necessary, but an advantage
- Knowledge and experience of brand, asset management and design
- Understanding of communicating in a complex ecosystem
- Proactive and insightful communications leader, capable of working at strategic and operational levels and motivating the team
