Opportunity for a Stem Graduate: Simulating and

Dunfermline, United Kingdom SME Graduate Employment Ltd Full time

This naval engineering consultancy delivers assessment, advice, and software related to naval lethality and survivability, to the Government and industry customers.

They have a proud record of only one member of staff leaving in 11 years; they look after their people, and provide training to become an expert in this specialist area. They are the best in the World at what they do.

They are looking to add a graduate to their team.

You will be speaking with customers to understand their requirements, then simulating and analysing naval scenarios.

This will include developing approaches to assessing simulation data, and extracting key observations in order to draw conclusions. You will be developing fast running Engineering Models from trials, complex numerical simulations or battle damage data.

A typical task would be to build a computerised model of a ship using the assessment software. Look at the combined physical model of how the ship is built, how thick the materials are etc. And also the functional side, for example what equipment is installed, and how this allows the ship to do what it does. You will set up a battle scenario, look at the damage sustained, and analyse the findings. Then write technical reports and presentations to explain your conclusions, with recommendations on how design can beimproved.

You should have a STEM related degree (or be from a naval architect background), with strong communication skills, and the ability to analyse complex problems and present conclusions.

Experience using numerical simulation tools would be an advantage, but is not necessary as training can be given.

Due to some of the contracts, background checks are carried out
- so you will need to be a full UK citizen.

Location is Dunfermline, commutable from Edinburgh, Dundee, or the central-belt.
