Duties are principally concerned with the market and the short-stay car park but will also involve other work across the town. There is a need to work closely with the Town Centre Manager, Deputy Town Clerk and the Clerk's assistants.

The Town Council employs a contractor whose work is mainly concerned with the cemetery but does also involves a range of other duties. There will be a need to liaise with the contractor to provide cover, avoid overlap and to work together when needed.

MARKET DUTIES

The regular markets are held on a Wednesday and a Saturday. There are specialist markets on other days. Duties generally over four days, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
- Tuesday and Friday (or day before specialist market) put out signs during the day, warning of attendance of market the following day.
- Receive a text advising of stalls attending the following day.

Approximately an hour for each day.

Market days
- Arrive by 6.00 am to make Market Square ready for the arrival of stalls (put out cones and where necessary remove bollards). Put away the 'warning of market attendance' signs
- Guide/assist stalls into position, ensuring there is adequate space between each stall for social distancing and remain in the Market Square until 8.30 am or to when all stalls are in place.
- Receive texts from stallholders advising of non-attendance and follow up with texts to stallholders who have indicated attendance but not arrived by 8.30 am.
- Encourage stall holders to use the local car parks and not park on the Market Square or in the Market Place
- Record who has attended each week and pass to the office.
- Return to the Market Square at 3 pm to tidy the area and reinstall bollards, if necessary.

Approximately four hours for each day.

VC FORECOURT LITTER CLEARING DUTIES

Over a seven-day period to clear litter from the VC Forecourt.

Hours flexible, but approximately 7 hours across a week.

PARKING DUTIES

Up to four days a week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. Ad hoc hours to be worked around other duties.
- Vehicle details to be recorded using an iPhone camera, supplied.
- Return between 40 minutes and two hours later and issue charge tickets as appropriate (30 minutes is permitted time. It is not intended to persecute or trap motorists).
- At end of session return copy tickets to The Beacon.

There may be a need to work extra ad hoc hours to deal with problems arising from overnight parking.

Up to six hours a week.

During working sessions, loose litter on Market Square and VC Forecourt to be picked up and placed in litter bins. Town centre notice boards to be updated.

NOTICE BOARDS

Update notice boards once a week. Keep notice boards clean and tidy.

Approximately three hours a week

FLAG FLYING

Instal and remove flags in accordance with the flag flying policy. Approximately 15 occasions a year (30 visits)

EVENTS

Collecting and setting up gazebos with weights - dismantle and return at the end of the event.

Bringing tables and chairs from sheds to the town centre - return at the end of the event.

Put up advertising boards on lampposts as directed.

Remove advertising boards after event.

**OTHER**

Keep bus shelters, lampposts free of unwanted flyers, stickers.

Clean bus shelters quarterly.

Additional hours to be worked as required.
