Small Animals Carer

We are looking for an animal loving person to join the team to help our rabbits and cats.

This is a great opportunity to work with animals in an animal rescue environment.

OAS cares for and rehomes around 500 animals a year.

You will be responsible for looking after the daily welfare of rabbits and cats. You will work with only one species per day, depending on the work rota.

**Work days and hours**
Work days to be confirmed but will involve working every weekend.

We are looking for two people to join the team. One person will work 4 days a week and one person will work 5 days a week.

The hours are 8am to 5pm* - 1 hour for lunch.
- Work finishes 30 minutes early in winter time and the lunch hour is reduced to 30 minutes._

**Pay**
You will be paid £10.92 per hour, for 8 hours a day.
- This is equivalent to £22,713 pa. (gross) for a 40 hour or 5 day week_

From April 1st, pay increases to £12 per hour
- This is equivalent to £24,960 pa. (gross)f or a 40 hour or 5 day week_

**Job requirements**
You will be allocated to work with either rabbits or cats each day.

Duties include cleaning rooms and enclosures, feeding, medicating and enrichment.
You will also assist in rabbit bonding and will meet potential adopters.

You will need to be comfortable around cats and rabbits and have no allergies to working with animals.

You must be competent at taking instructions and performing tasks set for you in a timely and efficient manner.

This is a physically demanding job.

You will be doing lots of manual work and you will be on your feet for most of the day and must be comfortable working outside, in all kinds of weather (if working with rabbits). You must have good communication skills and be able to speak to colleagues, visiting professionals and members of the public in a polite manner.

You must be hard-working, enthusiastic, have lots of energy and be a team player.

Please note that you will need to be available to work during Christmas time. This includes 2 x half days on either Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day.

**Salary**: £10.92 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
