**About the Role**:
Great Britain's electricity system is undergoing an ambitious, exciting, and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come.

The Balancing Programme plays a crucial role in achieving those goals as it is accountable for the ongoing delivery of data driven Energy Balancing Capabilities into the Electricity Network Control Centre.

These capabilities are at the heart of the ESO, enabling our Control Centre teams to secure the GB electrical network and balance it in real-time 365 days a year while delivering for the end consumer.

As an **Energy Balancing Transformation Specialist**, you will help us to build a robust understanding of the drivers for change in ESO system operation by means of strong analysis & insight ensuring these are aligned with customer and stakeholder expectations.

That’s why you will need to have strong **_analytical, data science, economic modelling, statistical analysis or forecasting experience _**with a proven record of being able to communicate complex ideas/processes in a simple manner.

This role is based at our Wokingham office which has free onsite parking, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

**About You**:
We are looking for individuals that are able to demonstrate the following:

- Experience of building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Inquisitive mind, able to challenge data sets and information to build insights in balancing activity which are then transferred into clear narratives and actionable deliverable/requirements
- Self-starter - able to organise and efficiently plan time in a fast-moving environment

**What You'll Do**:
From day one you will be involved in delivery strategy into the control room that is aligned to the ESO Business Plan and stakeholders through either:

- Defining data, analytical or energy industry insights which can be used within the Balancing Programme to ensure requirements meet future deliverables
- Leading on data and/or analytical outputs for our innovative trials with the industry
- Leading on the delivery of engagement and strategy
- Work with colleagues across the ESO to define end-to-end business process impacts and ensure that changes required across the business are delivered

**What You'll Get**:
A competitive salary of circa **£50,000 -70,000** - dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. As Great Britain’s electricity system operator (ESO), we sit at the heart of the electricity system, using our outstanding engineering and commercial expertise to balance electricity supply and demand. Ultimately, we keep the electricity flowing directly to where it’s needed, second by second.

Becoming the Energy Future System Operator

As you may have seen the Government and Ofgem have asked the ESO to take on new roles and responsibilities to help deliver net-zero.

Becoming the Energy Future System Operator is a critical step to help deliver a reliable and clean energy transition for all. The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new Future System Operator, taking on additional roles with a whole energy system mindset to drive progress towards net zero while maintaining energy security and minimising costs for consumers.

The new organisation will be set up as a public corporation with operational independence from government - bringing parties together to support optimised decision making and action. As now, it will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem but funded by consumers through price control agreements. It is anticipated that the new organisation will be up and running by or in 2024.
