An amazing opportunity has arisen to join the Sensory Processing Service as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, supporting the Occupational Therapists - Sensory Integration Practitioners who provide sensory processing advice/support and assessments with children and young people in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
These roles are for enthusiastic individuals who want to work with children, young people, and their families to make a difference. It will provide the opportunity to develop your career and be part of the ongoing development and growth of the Sensory Processing Service.
The Sensory Processing Service is an innovative service and you will be joining an enthusiastic team who work to meet the needs of children and young people between the age of 0-18 years old with Sensory Processing differences that are having an impact on their daily lives.
The service is continuing to grow and evolve in response to the local need and as part of this response, we are expanding our team. This is therefore an exciting time to come and join the Sensory Service and be a part of shaping its future.
This role will enable you to learn and develop skills in supporting children and young people who have sensory processing differences and to understand how this impacts daily lives.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant role is instrumental in the success of the service and works closely with all members of the team across all stages of the service. The service offers a staged response to support the young person and their families to understand how sensory processing differences impact them and to provide relevant strategies. The first stage is access to the Sensory Processing Hub website, the second stage offers advice and support via telephone or telehealth. Following training you will be required to independently carry out these telephone triage appointments. The third stage is a face to face clinic appointment.
It is essential that the successful applicant has proficient computer skills and excellent communication and engagement skills. They will be proactive in their work and are able to work as part of a team and independently.
The service works in settings across Hull and East Riding and the ability to commute is essential.
