We are seeking a Researcher in Social Care to join Dr. Michele Peters’ group. The post holder will contribute to the NIHR ARC theme on Improving Health and Social Care in the Community by being involved in both qualitative and quantitative research concerned with care homes or other social care settings. We are evaluating a range of initiatives to improve health and well-being in care homes and methods designed to improve how care home staff detect and assess deterioration in residents of care homes and then effectively communicate assessments in seeking help. The research involves working within the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU), Nuffield Department of Population Health, in collaboration with Professor Ray Fitzpatrick, Nuffield College Oxford, and researchers at Buckingham New University.

To be considered you will hold (or be close to completion of) a PhD in a medical or social science-related field (e.g. health sciences, sociology, psychology). Experience in conducting and analysing qualitative interviews in an appropriate software package such as NVIVO and the ability to analyse surveys using a software package such as SPSS are essential for this role. Experience in interviewing health and social care professionals would be desirable.
