University Hospitals Sussex is one of the biggest acute Trusts in the UK and this role will be integral to the delivery of corporate and strategic priorities.

As a PMO Business Partner at the Trust you will work as part of the project management office (PMO) team to lead, drive and deliver projects aligned to Trust objectives. The breadth and diversity of the programmes within the scope of the team provide an excellent opportunity for an experienced PMO Business Partner who is looking to broaden their breadth of experience opportunity.

The post holder will need excellent communication and influencing skills, alongside a comprehensive understanding of the challenging NHS environment and the national requirement. They will need a commitment to improving services using best practice improvement and project management methodologies, skills and tools.

The base will be Brighton or Worthing with occasional travel required to any UH Sussex site.

The post-holder will work closely with operational, corporate and clinical colleagues to help identify and define improvement and efficiency initiatives that will support the ongoing development of the Efficiency Programme.

The post-holder will need to have excellent people skills, as this role requires a high degree of critical review, engagement and challenge to exceptionally busy clinical and corporate colleagues.

To use project management and service improvement skills to, develop and support delivery of workstreams that contribute towards the Trust’s annual Efficiency Programme.

Supporting the Lead Efficiency & Productivity Manager, to deliver divisional efficiency programmes, as well as ad-hoc projects that require PM support as allocated by the PMO’s senior team.

The Efficiency Business Partner is expected to lead a medium-sized clinical or corporate division in its efficiency programme lifecycle. The post-holder will be initially aligned to one specific division/s. They will work closely with other PMO Business Partners and the Trust’s leadership teams, utilising project management skills to enable delivery of the divisional workstream outcomes within agreed quality, cost and time parameters

The Efficiency Programme traditionally comprises a mix of tactical and strategic pay and non-pay cost-saving actions, alongside income generation. Support to specific Divisional projects - as identified through catch-ball and divisional SDR processes - will ensure development of productivity opportunities alongside efficiency savings, and support the clinical divisions by ensuring that cost-saving actions are closely aligned to their strategic and operational priorities.

Integral to the role is the delivery of both financial and non-financial benefits and this role will ensure that clear and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets are set for each project, and they will continue to ensure benefits realisation remains a key focus throughout the project delivery.
