The post holder will be delivering financial support to the Planning & Delivery function. The role will involve providing high quality financial management support for developing the Trust’s financial plans and reporting Income from Patient Care Activities working closely alongside the Commissioning & Business Support, Performance & Information Teams and Business planning teams to support delivery of the Trust objectives.

Reporting directly to the Head of Planning & Income, the post holder will be a key member of the Finance Team working closely with the Commissioning & Business Support team to ensure that Income from Patient Care Activities is fully understood and maximised and the wider finance and planning teams to build and triagulate the Trust’s financial planning submissions. In addition the postholder will deputise for the Head of Planning & Income, as appropriate, demonstrating sound accounting and business knowledge, providing analytical support and clear presentation of financial and other information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues. They will constructively and positively challenge all aspects of the financial and business performance of the Trust.

This role will support with enhancing relationships between finance and clinical and non-clinical teams in financial performance management, cost improvement development, financial planning and education.

The post holder will ensure the provision of effective partnering to a defined portfolio of functional responsibilities in the Trust including:

- Support and advise operational decision making
- Interpret and explain financial performance
- Analyse and identify financial risk in the organisation
- Promote an environment of strong financial control within the Trust and challenge non-compliance and/or behaviour that disregards the Trust’s financial principles, procedures and policies
- Support the creation of a culture of performance management within the Finance Division that seeks and finds solutions to financial problems and maximises financial opportunities.

You will need familiarity with the NHS financial reporting requirements for Foundation Trusts and be able to interpret and explain planning and national payment guidance, including payment by results.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust's income from ICBs and NHSE bodies is understood fully and reported accurately; and a key member of the team collating, triangulating and submitting the Trusts short
