Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the Systems Accountant will be instrumental in the continual effective running of the Core Finance Systems (Open Accounts/eBIS/RAM) including reporting, and will manage projects to streamline finance processes bothwithin the team and across the wider organisation.
**PURPOSE OF ROLE**:
The main purpose of this role is to support the finance team on its journey towards always being efficient and effective in the delivery of financial services to the wider organisation, and to external stakeholders
**CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To contribute to the strategic leadership of Great Places and shaping the vision;
- To ensure the responsibilities of the post are carried out in a way that reflects the standards, vision and values of Great Places;
- To adequately report, manage and mitigate the operational risks of the team;
- To drive change to ensure we are always efficient and effective, with a focus on digital delivery of services;
- To set, monitor and deliver on key performance indicators across the department, aiming to deliver continuous improvement;
- Ensure the department provides a high quality financial service to all Group companies, and to all internal and external customers;
- To inspire and motivate staff, developing and managing team members (direct and indirect) effectively and enabling them to give their best;
- To deliver value for money and manage resources effectively and efficiently, ensuring that targets (financial and non-financial) are met;
- To develop a culture of customer satisfaction throughout Great Places, leading to an enhanced reputation locally and further afield;
- To promote Great Places to employers, sector bodies, and the local community, developing effective partnerships with employers, the funding agencies and other representative bodies;
- To proactively promote Safeguarding practice, EDI and Health and Safety.
- To undertake appropriate training and staff development.
- To identify and develop individual contribution in the delivery of the Great Places competency framework

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Champion the systems thinking methodology and ensure all change activities within finance are undertaken in line with our methodology;
- Be Systems Accountant for the Core Finance Systems working towards minimising the use of spreadsheets and automating reports
- To understand the capabilities of current systems to allow better utilisation to aid in being more effective and efficient for the team;
- Observe financial processes within the team, and out in the business to identify waste and inefficiencies;
- Project manage a programme of change within Finance;
- Support the re-design processes in an inclusive way;
- Implement innovative yet simple solutions in process re-design;
- Have a good understanding of all current financial systems and processes and provide training, advice and support as required;
- Actively implement change solutions, predominantly by re-designing financial processes, systems of financial control or financial reporting;
- To actively visit reference sites to gain insight into best practice to aid the recommendation of new solutions;
- To have a good understanding of IT, databases, and have exceptional excel skills;
- To work in a matrix way with other Service Improvement specialists, learning best practice and keeping abreast of changes in the wider business.

**QUALIFICATIONS & PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS**:
Recognised professional accountancy qualification
**EXPERIENCE & SKILLS**:

- Experience within a finance setting, ideally within a regulated environment
- Experience of maintaining systems of financial control
- Experience of manipulating large volumes of data for multiple scenarios
- Strong IT skills, extremely proficient in excel and report writing
- Proven relationship builder and influencer with stake holders
- Proven management skills - both operational and programme
- The ability to motivate, inspire and influence change by example and persuasion
- The ability to develop and project a positive image of Great Places through personal, written and oral skills
- An ability to recognise, develop and effectively promote new opportunities for Great Places
