Human Resources Officer

Northease Manor School is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and ambitious HR officer who has worked in a similar environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to work in a specialist SEND setting, contributing to the smooth operations of Human Resources across all areas.
Job Title: Human Resources Officer
**Salary**: £35,000 FTE (pro rata)
Line Manager: Headteacher
Working Hours: Part-time 4 days (30 hours per week)
Working Weeks: 52 weeks
Contract: Permanent
Holiday entitlement: 6.6 weeks (pro rata)
**Main purpose of the role**:
Reporting to the Headteacher, the role incorporates both strategic and operational HR with the support of our external HR advisors. This is an exciting opportunity that focuses on:
- Recruitment
- Training
- Staff Welfare
- Policy maintenance
**Main Responsibilities, Tasks and Duties**:
- Ensure compliance with relevant internal relevant employment legislation, safer recruitment and relevant codes of practice
- Provide HR advice and guidance to the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and staff
- Support the implementation of delegated projects within HR
- Maintain an accurate HR database and ensure compliance by efficiently managing the Single Central Register
**Advice and Support**
- The HR Officer will manage HR activities, including terms and conditions of employment, absence management, recruitment, staff well-being, employee relations, and internal communications on HR matters
- To act as the first point of contact and provide support, advice and guidance for all staff about HR matters (including information on contracts, recruitment, flexible working requests, absence management, staff benefits, compliance etc.)
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements, employment law, data protection, and health and safety
**Absence Management**
- To monitor absence alongside the Administrative Service Manager and work with the SLT and Line Managers to oversee the Staff Attendance which includes advice when triggers are reached
- Working alongside the Administrative Service Manager to ensure allabsence records are accurately maintained, recorded and regularly updated
**Recruitment**
- To work closely with colleagues and external parties (where necessary) in order to fulfil recruitment needs and actively be looking at new approaches to reach new potential applicants
- Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date database of all job descriptions
- To manage the safer recruitment process including relevant pre-employment checks
- To assist with the staff induction and probation process
**Record keeping / databases and analysis**
- To provide statistical information, internal school evaluation data and other relevant information on staffing as required to the Headteacher and SLT
- To ensure that staff personnel files are stored centrally, remain up to date and confidential
**Other duties**:
- To support and advise SLT in the performance management of staff
- To ensure that school staff are aware of school policies and procedures and able to operate within them effectively
- To co-ordinate and support with investigations, grievance and disciplinary matters
- To ensure that regular reports and all paperwork regarding personnel are communicated within SLT
- To be directly responsible to the Headteacher for the maintenance and accuracy of the school’s Single Central Register (SCR)
- To conduct exit interviews
- To provide HR information for references
- To support the Headteacher with the development and implementation of new projects as and when required
**General**:
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Ensure that a confidential and discreet HR service is provided and adherence to data regulations
- Adhere to and work within agreed school policies, procedures and guidelines
- To take part in training activities offered to further professional knowledge and development
- Be aware of and comply to the school’s Health and Safety policies
- Be committed to the safeguarding of children and the promotion of their welfare within the school
- To carry out the above duties in accordance with the school’s Equal Opportunities policy
- To perform additional tasks, as may reasonably be required
