**Job Summary**:
The Transport Clerk is primarily responsible for developing and optimising transportation routes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services. This role involves coordinating with the logistics team and the transport manager to enhance efficiency and productivity.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Route Design and Optimization**:
- Develop and optimise routes for delivery trucks, service personnel, or transportation vehicles.
- Ensure new customers are integrated seamlessly into existing route schedules to maximize efficiency.
- Liaise with the operations director to plan and introduce new routes and accommodate new customers.
- **Coordination and Communication**:
- Coordinate with the logistics team and the transport manager to ensure smooth execution of routes.
- Communicate route plans and changes as necessary.
- Address and resolve any issues or delays that arise during route execution.
- **Compliance and Safety**:
- Ensure all routes comply with legal regulations and company policies.
- Promote and enforce safety standards for drivers and vehicles.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in transportation laws and regulations.
**Qualifications**:
- **Experience**:
- Proven experience as a route planner, logistics coordinator, or similar role.
- **Skills**:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- **Other Requirements**:
- Familiarity with transportation regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
**Working Conditions**:
- This role is primarily office-based but may require visits to other sites.
- Occasional use of a company van or car to carry out ad-hoc duties.
- Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 - 18:30
**Salary**:
- £28,000 per annum.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £28,000.00 per year
