**Main Duties**
- Coach and audit personnel working at Pembroke Refinery to ensure they are compliant with UK Safety Regulations, ACOP’s, Valero CTEMS and Pembroke Refinery Safety Instructions and Practices.
- Complete safety induction for all new entrants to Pembroke Refinery.
- Provide support and coaching to ensure Valero Protection Program (VPP) Star certification is maintained.
- Develop and manage safety training material and knowledge / competency assessments
- Develop and implement action plans for the business to ensure compliance with new regulations
- Manage company Safety Management System assessments
- Conduct company internal audits across the business and liaise with external auditors to ensure a fair assessment of the company’s business.
- Provide support and guidance to specific Valero Departments and their Contractor working groups regarding all safety matters and recommend measures to continually improve performance.
- Lead Safety Management System continuous improvement projects.
- Support and mentor groups / individuals with the behavioural safety programme LPS.
- Ability to relate refinery knowledge to the appropriate safety standards.
- Experience of permit to work systems, gas testing, LOTO procedures, preparation of equipment for maintenance, hot work and confined space entry.
- Well-developed teamwork skills and the ability to work under pressure, together with excellent planning, technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the corporate organisation.

**Cogen Specific**:

- Knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM 2015).
- Complete project specific safety inductions for all new project personnel at Pembroke Refinery.
- Support contract companies through the Valero Short Service/ Short Term Worker process.
- Chair project safety meetings.
- Lead project safety tour inspections.
- Provide safety support, advice and guidance for multi-discipline contractors.
