Due to continued growth within our Learning Disabilities department, LIFE by Be Caring is expanding, we're looking for kind and compassionate people to join our team of Learning Disabilities Support Workers, proving care and support to both adults and children across Newcastle, areas including **West Denton and Westerhope (NE5).**

**Pay**:
Working on shifts,
- **£10.00 p/hr - Generalist Care Needs**
- ** £10.30 p/hr - Complex Care Needs**
- Mileage - 40p per mile

**Working Hours and Shift Patterns**:
Join our team of Learning Disabilities Support Workers. We offer various shift patterns - to be agreed by management.
- Weekend working undertaken on a rota basis.
- Day shift working - full and part-time hours available.

**The Role**:
As a Learning Disabilities Support Worker, you will be kind and compassionate whilst building caring and supportive relationships with the people you support and their families - learning or physical disabilities, and mental health problems, are not limitations. You will place dignity at the heart of the care you provide, maximising independence through enabling approaches and building care and support networks for individuals, involving family and friends and their local community. You will:

- Promote independence using enabling approaches, enabling people to communicate with others, and sometimes advocating for them.
- Supporting individuals with their social and physical activities. Examples include work, studies, volunteering, community involvement and staying in touch with family.
- Promote access to and the attendance of community groups and activities. Maintaining people's hobbies, interests and social intervention whilst promoting equality and diversity.
- Deliver personalised care through individual choice and control whilst protecting people's dignity.
- Meal planning and preparation whilst providing nutritional advice.

**Induction Training**

All training is fully funded, and you will be paid for your time to complete the training. As a Learning Disabilities Support Worker, you will be provided with a comprehensive induction training on:

- Community wellbeing, individual wellbeing, and personal outcomes
- First aid training
- Professional boundaries, confidentiality, equality, and diversity
- Safeguarding, mental health and capacity
- Fluids and nutrition
- Medication, moving and handling, basic life support and first aid
- Infection prevention and control, health, and safety

**Additional Training**

As a Learning Disabilities Support Worker, you will be provided with specialist training to help equip you with the tools needed to meet the needs of our customers, this will include;
- Learning Disabilities and Autism training
- Mental health for people with Learning Disabilities
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Training, person-centred training to support people with behaviours that challenge
- Break-away training

Training is delivered by our amazing Specialist Trainer Suzanne who has a wealth or knowledge and experience to prepare you for working within our learning disabilities team.

- Full induction and shadowing programme.
- Training to complete the Care Certificate and other specialist Learning Disabilities training

- Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification (on completion of six-month probation period)
- Quarterly Be Supported sessions.
- An annual appraisal and personal development plan.
