Medway council are looking for an enthusiastic adoption decision maker. The post holder will be responsible for:
Leading on all aspects of the decision making role of Adoption Decision Maker on behalf of Medway Council, make and communicate the decision to: social work practitioners, families and panels within statutory timeframe and drive best practice across the service.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge on new legislation, case law, policy guidance and local/regional policy developments, and support the implementation of new legislation in conjunction with senior managers and other partners.

Ensuring that issues of equality and diversity are properly reflected and addressed in the documents upon which the post holder’s decisions are based and that the needs of children have been identified and can be met by prospective carer/adopters.

You will observe and quality assure Panel processes, taking into account feedback from panel members, panel advisor, social workers, applicants attending, panel administrator and minute taker.

Ensuring panel chairs are suitably qualified and equipped to discharge their duties and conduct annual appraisals of panel chairs based on observation of panel, quality of the panel minutes and the panel’s recommendations.

Providing regular reports for internal and external bodies; including briefings and reports to the Director as required.
