**Vulnerable children in the UK need your help**

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

**Why Action for Children?**

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

**Tell me about the service and role**

Ty Laura Short Breaks is a 5-bedded residential service which provides short breaks for children and young people aged 5-17 with complex health and or additional learning needs.

As a Residential Worker, you'll join the friendly team to provide overnight support to children and young people within the home and access the local community. At Ty Laura we see the individual and their capabilities not their disability.

You'll be a key role model to the people we support, whilst helping our young people to develop emotionally, socially, behaviourally and independently. Your role will also require you to attend training, team meetings and take part in supervisions during the day.

As part of your induction, we are committed to providing you with comprehensive training to enable you to support the young people. The training includes safe administration of medication, Team Teach, Manual handling, first aid and safeguarding as well as further training and access to extensive e-learning modules.

We will support you in registering with Social Care Wales and completion of the All Wales Induction Framework, as well as full on the job training with experienced members of the team, which includes a 2 week shadowing period.

Our goal is to equip you with the necessary tools to excel in your role and confidently carry out your responsibilities to provide the highest level of support to the young people who access the home.

You'll be working within a supportive team, with your Registered Manager, Team Leader, fellow Residential and Residential Support Workers there every step of the way to guide and assist you.

We value collaboration and teamwork, and we believe that together, we can create a positive and impactful environment.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**
- Assessing, reviewing, planning, and providing a 24/7 care service in line with regulatory requirements
- Undertaking the role of a link worker for identified young people and be responsible for updating their case files
- Leading shifts whilst maintaining high quality care that is safe, personalised and outcome focused for the young people in our care
- Supporting young people to take part in fun activities, learn new skills and work towards independence within the community
- Supporting children and young people with personal care, communication, administration of medication and clinical procedures as and when required
- Supporting the Manager, Team Leader and other Residential workers in the safe and efficient running of the home.
- Supervising Residential Support Workers and coaching and mentoring them to aid their development.

**Let's talk about you**

These are excellent opportunities to support activities and sessions providing quality care for children in need. We are looking for:

- A Level 3 NVQ/QCF qualification in Health and Social Care
- Experience of working in a children's home, residential short breaks or children's services
- Experience of accurate record keeping using IT systems
- Understanding of confidentiality, Safeguarding and relevant policies
- Flexibility to work shifts
