**Family Support Leader**

**Job brief**

Supported by the Senior Family Support Team Leader the post holder will work within a small team to provide bespoke support, guidance, training and strategies to families whose child has a neurodevelopmental difference, whether diagnosed or not. Please note this post has come about due to the roll out of an existing service across the Tees Valley and is funded by the ICB. The post holder must be willing to travel and work flexibly to meet the needs of the families who will access the service.

Hours
- 30 hrs per week - The post will be based at Daisy Chain but will be required to travel across the Tees Valley on a regular basis.

Salary-£23,080 per annum (pro rata)

**Key Tasks**
- Act as the main point of contact for families in need of support and signpost to other staff and organizations as appropriate
- Plan and deliver assessments of families that are new to the service in order to be able to signpost them to the most appropriate services and support.
- Provide a bespoke package of support that is tailored to the needs of the individual families and may include writing reports, attending meetings and liaising with other services to ensure they get the support that they need.
- Deliver a bespoke package of training and learning workshops to parents/carers, siblings and children/young people with neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Build and maintain positive, trust-based relationships with families and young people/adults, in order to identify the key issues which are relevant to them.
- Plan and deliver 1:1 support and group support activities such as parent support groups and drop-in sessions.
- Maintain and develop an up to date knowledge of local service provision for appropriate signposting and referrals.
- Ensure current up to date knowledge of developments in neurodevelopmental disorders research.
- Contribute towards the protection of individuals from abuse by adhering to Daisy Chains Child and At-Risk Adults Safeguarding policies at all times.
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained and that Daisy Chains GDPR Policy is adhered to at all times.

**Administration**:

- Work with Senior Family Support Leader to collect accurate and consistent data and statistics relating to the activities of the family support team.
- Ensure effective and accurate recording and reporting systems in line with Daisy Chains procedures.
- Undertake administrative tasks necessary for the efficient and effective delivery of the key responsibilities in this role.

**Additional responsibilities**:

- Comply with the Charities Health and Safety policy in all employment practices
- Take a lead role in safeguarding of children, young people and adults ensuring that best practice is adhered to throughout Daisy Chain services and activities
- Maintain the integrity of the Daisy Chain brand in all internal and external communications
- Work in ways, which promote equality of opportunity, participation and responsibility
- Maintain a proactive approach to your role and responsibilities along with a commitment to contribute and maintain the positive working ethos within the Charity
- Ensure attendance at staff meetings.
- Undertake any training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post

**Person Specification**

**Experience**
- Experience of delivering support services to families, young people and adults with complex needs including autism E, A&I
- Experience of multi-agency working E, A&I
- Experience of working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders E, A&I
- Experience of working in a public health project D, A
- Experience of delivering training to families, professionals and/or school staff D, A&I

**Qualifications**
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. autism, education, health & social care) E, A
- Trained to level of Designated Safeguarding Officer D, A

**Knowledge & Skills**
- Ability to communicate effectively around highly sensitive and complex cases with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and with varying needs E, I
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to work with children and young people E, I&T
