Assistant Psychologist Band 4

Full time Fixed Term for 12 months

Birmingham Healthy Minds is the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service in Birmingham.

We are looking to recruit Assistant Psychologist to support the clinical team to provide excellent high quality and time limited psychological interventions.

In particular, your main focus would be co-facilitating well-being workshops and conducting brief telephone sessions, with an opportunity, after a minimum amount of time and training in service, to support service users using computerised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (cCBT) packages and other guided self-help.

In the Staff Mental Health Hub, you would be developing and leading on the service evaluation, both qualitative and quantitative, and be responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Applications are invited from psychology graduates who can demonstrate their clinical expertise and experience of working with people with common mental health difficulties. Previous knowledge of and experience of working in IAPT Primary care is not essential.

Job Summary (for both services)

1. Under the management, clinical supervision and direction of the qualified and suitably experienced PWP, works within guidelines and procedures determined and monitored by BHM, exercising initiative within agreed parameters and referring to the Team Manager in relation to non-routine matters.

1. Supports all qualified practitioners, therapists and psychologists in BHM with the delivery of clinical services, where appropriate.

1. Supports the Clinical Lead in BHM and Staff Hub in governance, audit, research and clinical administrative activities and if required in collecting, collating and analysing data, writing and presenting reports and assisting in project development under the guidance of an appropriate psychological clinician. Uses IT equipment and software as required, including statistical analysis, databases, spreadsheets, teaching materials and presentations.

1. Assists PWP’s in the planning and organisation of teaching/training programmes and undertakes/contributes to teaching and training activities as required.

1. Participates in personal appraisal and continuing professional development activities as agreed with line manager, including general training required in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Trust.

In completing duties, draws on a knowledge base commensurate with a good honours degree in psychology and eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS
