1. Contribute to implementing and progressing of a range of patient treatment and care
programmes mainly Haemodialysis as delegated by a registered healthcare

**practitioner, and report back on progress. This may involve**:

- making minor modifications to the care/treatment plan haemodialysis within

prescribed parameters
- supervision of individual/group patient therapy sessions
- timetabling/running patient activities (eg. outpatient clinics).

**2. Participate as an active member of the healthcare team**:

- organising own day-to-day work tasks (with support available)
- participating in ongoing training and development, and maintaining skills

necessary for the role
- contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the service.

3. Provide day-to-day supervision and co-ordination of junior staff.

Worthing Satellite dialysis unit at Worthing Hospital

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health-care Assistant to join our dynamic and friendly team in the satellite dialysis unit. The department is a satellite unit of the main dialysis unit which is based in Brighton.

The unit is open Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 22:00 hours and the successful applicant would be expected to work shifts to cover all these hours which will be discussed at interview. The post is to cover the maternity leave for one year.

You will work within a specialized area, providing high quality care to patients with chronic renal failure and therefore will be expected to take on extended roles associated with the specialism. You will be an excellent communicator and be required to work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team.

Previous healthcare experience is essential and an existing NVQ level 3 would be desirable. Due to the specialized nature of the unit an informal visit is highly recommended. Hemodialysis experience is desirable but not essential as the successful applicant will receive training once in post.

Chronic Haemodialysis
- Participate safely as a member of the main dialysis unit providing chronic haemodialysis treatments.
- To contribute to the smooth running of the department, developing relevant clinical skills.

General
- Work within own level of assessed competence and participate actively in training and assessment; take personal responsibility for booking and participating in all statutory & mandatory training required for the role.
- Follow written policies, protocols/operating procedures and patient treatment/careplans, with support from registered healthcare practitioners available.
- Work at all times in a way that minimises the risk of infection (to patients and self) and maintains health, safety and security in line with established protocols (eg. hand hygiene, use of Personal Protective Equipment).
- At all times, maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
- Assess (through basic observations) patient health, safety & wellbeing before and while undertaking any activity or intervention, and respond accordingly.
- Provide concise, legible and accurate data and records of own work (handwritten and input to computer systems, eg. Electronic Patient Record)
