The warehouse operative role is a Government & Defence logistics activity at Portsmouth Naval Base.
- ** Your Role **:37 hrs per week - Mon to Thurs 7.30am to 4pm - Fri 7.30am to 12.30pm - The purpose of this role is to perform all warehousing activities, for which you have been appropriately trained, necessary to meet operational needs and performance.
- ** Your Responsibilities**:

- Work IAW the QSHE guidelines, ABC and working instructions for all tasks and not put self or others at risk by taking short cuts.
- Report all incidents, hazards and unsafe practices in the working environment in a timely manner.
- Have good awareness of where the Departmental Instructions/Work Instructions are and follow procedures correctly to ensure stock accuracy and safety.
- Operate Warehouse Management Systems and carry out other assigned computer tasks as required
- Take responsibility for your own work accuracy, and to always handle products with care.
- Ensure good customer and employee relations through effective communication.
- Identify weaknesses in processes that would benefit from Continuous Improvement activity
- Support and encourage team ethics and values within your working environment.
- Clean as you go to maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping at all times to prevent FOD.
- Participate regularly in on the job and refresher training, and to train others at this level and below.
- Unload and load pallets into the trucks/ container by use of MHE provided.
- Ensure that all company equipment and assets are handled and operated in a responsible manner at all times

**Your Skills and Experiences**:

- Good level of numeracy and literacy
- Warehouse experience
- Trade Counter experience
- Manufacturing / Production environment awareness / experience.
- Personal Drive - self-motivated, target driven, reliable and flexible.
- Teamwork - communication skills.
- Managing Performance of self and team
- Understanding of PUWER & LOLER regulations.
- PC Literate
