Sheffield, United Kingdom Save the Children Full time

Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for a strategically minded individual with voluntary/early years experience to join us as our **Programme Lead - Sheffield Early Learning Community** where you will work with this specific Sheffield based partnership.

This is a fixed term contract running until December 2024 (21 months).

**About Us**

Save the Children UK believes every child deserves a future. In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children's unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.

**About the role**

As **Programme Lead (Sheffield Early Learning Community),** you will be developing plans and strategies to support the families and young people in these communities. This role will involve the opportunity to grow and develop a project in it's early stages with exciting relationship building opportunities in the area.

There is an operational focus, a need to have a strong grasp of governance and also the opportunity to meet with partners out and about in the community. Within this role there is a lot of multi-disciplinary work where you will be able to collaborate with different levels of seniority from different teams and organisations too.

The Sheffield Early Learning Community is part of the Early Learning Communities programme, which began in 2018 in partnership between Save the Children and local partners across the UK. The programme aims to make a sustainable difference to the lives of children growing up in poverty by taking a whole-system and evidence-based approach to improving early learning outcomes.

By bringing together and supporting schools, statutory bodies, local charities, parents and children, and looking at the root causes of issues affecting outcomes, Early Learning Communities seek to enable communities to make a sustainable different to the lives of children growing up in poverty.

**In this role, you will**:

- Oversee and support the implementation of the workstreams and interventions identified within the Early Learning Community strategy
- Be embedded in the local system, influencing and building the capacity of local partners and the early learning system to think and work in ways which promote cross-agency collaboration, working with parents as partners and address the root causes of challenges facing children growing up in poverty
- Engage, support and build the capacity of the local community, including children, families and community organisations, inspiring people to feel a sense of pride in belonging to the Sheffield Early Learning Community and supporting them to achieve their ambitions
- Provide strong leadership and effective support to those you line and task manage, getting the best from your team and supporting effective collaboration with other teams
- Work with colleagues and partners to ensure delivery of funded work in line with the Early Learning Community opportunity and our commitment to co-design and locally driven solutions

**About you**

**To be successful, it is important that you have**:

- Proven strategic and operational expertise in working and building partnerships across multiple systems
- A good understanding of public policy, practice and systems issues affecting children in the UK, their families and their early learning, in relation to child poverty
- Experience of designing, managing and delivering complex programmes of work to a very high standard
- Good track record in leading teams; performance and results-focused management
- Knowledge of the local area, including existing relationships with local leaders, partners and stakeholders
- Experience of developing and operationalising complex programmes
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and representational skills in order to work with a wide range of people both internally and externally Commitment to Save the Children's vision, mission and values.

- We focus on flexibility, inclusion, collaboration, health and wellbeing both in and outside of work.
