Social Care Buyer

Truro, United Kingdom Cornwall Council Full time

We are looking to recruit Social Care Buyers to work as part of our People and Commissioning Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join and continue to build a new integrated people commissioning function at Cornwall Council.

The purpose of the Social Care Buyer role is to work as part of the Adults Commissioning Purchasing Team and conduct the day to day purchasing of adult social care services. This includes sourcing care and support, prioritising and optimising capacity, preventing package breakdown and escalating unmet demand and any market fragility.

If your skills base lies in facilitation, effective communication and juggling competing priorities, this may be the role for you. It is a position with variety and no two days are the same.

Your day to day duties include:

- From care and support plans, creating profile requirements in a package to go out to the Provider market
- Use online CRM and other online purchasing systems and liaise directly with Providers to find and match care capacity with care needs waiting to be delivered.
- Coordinate and liaise with social worker teams, hospital staff, other health and social care professionals to support people to increase/decrease or consider alternative options for their care needs
- Help contracted Care Providers to ‘bid’ on packages in areas where they have capacity
- Work with Providers to identify and optimise care capacity in particular geographical areas
- Complete the necessary administrative paperwork and audit trials around these processes

All this to help people stay independent at home and put the right care in the right place at the right time for the people of Cornwall.

There are 3 roles - one 12 month maternity cover, and 3 permanent roles.

Could this be you?

Whilst the location/work-base for this role may have been specified our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g., from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.

We are happy to talk about flexible working options such as part-time or compressed hours. More examples of our flexible working opportunities can be found here - flexible working options.
