This is a fantastic opportunity to join Design102, a unique public sector creative agency working on projects that make a difference to people’s lives. As Head of Strategic Planning, you will be responsible for furthering our strategic planning offer. You will lead a team of copywriters and strategists to deliver great strategic campaigns and branding projects, leading on insight development, positioning, proposition writing and messaging development for a range of central government clients.
As well as leading the team, you will personally help our clients define their campaign objectives, make recommendations on how to best achieve them. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team - from creatives to accounts in order deliver the most effective outputs.

You will also be a member of the Design102 senior management team, providing leadership and guidance on best practice in communications as well as continuously improving processes and contributing to the overall Design102 culture.

**Your main responsibilities will include**:

- Leading a team of creative copy writers, copy editors, strategic planners and insight and evaluation analysts to deliver excellent work for government clients on time and on budget
- Working with clients to set aims and objectives
- actively questioning briefs and working collaboratively to define work at the earliest point in the project to ensure the client gets a great product
- Analysing existing information, data and evidence to make informed decisions on communications and longer term projects
- Managing research projects to fill gaps in existing information
- Overseeing the insight for all briefs, working closely with insight manager and copy writers to identify practical approaches to define audiences and refine messages
- Working with colleagues and clients to develop ideas for projects from campaigns to brands to video, reports and assets
- Identifying potential problems and finding ways to address them
- Developing well-informed strategic plans for clients
- Presenting findings to senior colleagues and clients
- Working across a multi-disciplinary agency, briefing creative teams and working collaboratively with account teams to deliver effective projects on time and on budget
- Evaluating the success of campaigns, ensuring what we deliver is the best it can be and embedding learnings to clients and internal teams.
- Act as a member of the Design102 Senior Management Team, actively working to improve culture and working practices in Design102 to make it an effective and efficient agency fit for the future

**Essential experience and personal skills**:

- A proven track record in developing strategic communication and marketing plans for clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly numerate, with excellent analytical skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team
- Strong experience of managing and motivating teams
- The ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels
- The ability to think logically and rigorously to solve problems
- Good understanding of digital and social media
- Experience in managing multiple projects at one time
- An interest in current affairs
