The North & West Older Adult Community Mental Health Team is looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the team, working within their busy memory clinic.
The memory clinic is a diagnostic service and you will be involved in the assessment of patients and completing neuropsychological testing as well as the support of the patient and their family member throughout the whole process.
There will be opportunities for you to be involved in wider psychological interventions in the team and to spend sometime in the Brain Heath Centre at the Warneford Hospital and see some of the research which the Trust is involved with.
You will need to have a keen interest in working with older adults and in specific working with dementia and cognitive impairment. Previous experience in this area would be advantageous but not essential.
The North CMHT is a friendly and supportive place to work, with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists and support workers as well as a dedicated administrative team.
You will play a major role in the day to day functioning of the memory clinic, for which you will need to have a high level of organisational and communication skills and be a positive team player.
Your will need a keen understanding of mental health and be able to undertake supervised assessments of patients attending the memory clinic, supporting the medical staff with interviewing patients and family members or carers.
After training you will offer neuropsychological tests, rating scales as appropriate and psychometric screening.
You will assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the treatment and management of a client's problems under the supervision of a qualified professional.
To work with other staff to assess patients and work with carers/families to support the diagnosis of dementia.
To collate data, analyse and produce reports and outcome summaries as required.
