Aston, United Kingdom Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Full time

Band 4, Technical Instructor for Speech and Language Therapy - stroke rehabilitation. Full time post (1.0 WTE) based in Deeside Community Hospital.

Stroke services in North Wales have received significant new investment and are in the process of complete transformation. We have an exciting opportunity for you to be part of this transformation, joining a growing team of stroke specialist therapists and support workers, under the clinical leadership of an AHP Stroke Consultant, who is also a speech and language therapist.

You will work within the SLT service and stroke specialist team, based in our newly-developed stroke specialist in-patient rehabilitation unit based at Deeside Community Hospital in Flintshire. You will support people receiving both in-patient rehabilitation and ‘early supported discharge’ rehabilitation in the community in North East Wales. You will be supported by our team of skilled SLTs and TIs to deliver direct 1:1 and group therapy for people during their stroke rehab journey. You will participate in delivering training programmes relating to communication and swallowing difficulties associated with stroke - for patients, families and other health and social care professionals. As the service becomes fully developed, you will participate in a 7 day working rota to ensure intensive rehabilitation is available to give people the opportunity for the best recovery and outcomes. Previous experience of working within stroke services or with adults with communication or swallowing difficulties is important for this role, with further training being provided as necessary.

You will be joining a supportive and connected team of speech and language therapists and technical instructors across stroke services and other clinical settings, with regular access to clinical supervision, support and training and development. We would be very happy to arrange a visit and ‘meet the team’ session for anyone interested in this opportunity.
