Job overview

We have an opportunity for a half time ( hours) Band Speech and Language Therapist to join our Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) service, delivering high quality MDT assessment and therapy in North East Wales. You will work as part of an innovative, energetic multi-disciplinary team, linking in with our in-patient stroke team and our community team to support seamless provision for patients, in-reaching into the hospital setting and supporting people continue their intensive rehabilitation programmes after they are discharged.

You will be expected to travel across Wrexham and Flintshire counties to deliver care closer to home for stroke survivors and link with our community SLT team to deliver long-term support.

Main duties of the job

Following significant new investment, Stroke services in North Wales have been transformed, with our therapy teams leading and delivering excellent clinical care for our population. Our in-patient rehabilitation and ESD services are led by Consultant Therapists.

As well as working closely with the stroke MDT, you will also be part of the friendly and supportive Speech and Language Therapy team where there is a wide range of expertise and experience. You will join a growing team of Speech and Language Therapists and technical instructors. There is excellent peer support.

We have regular team meetings and have strong links with other specialist services. Clinical supervision is actively encouraged and there are regular cross team CPD and training opportunities as you continue to develop and hone your clinical skills. There is access to regular therapist-led and MDT clinics including Videofluoroscopy and FEES. There will be opportunities to participate in service improvements and MDT initiatives are encouraged.

Please note that we have another half time band vacancy in our adult community team which would align with this post to make a full time position.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
