**The description**

We’re looking for an empathetic problem-solver experienced in Product Design to help us create the future of pet wellbeing.

You will be a proficient and talented designer with advanced skills across 2D, print and packaging design, in addition you will be highly skilled using 3D software such as Solidworks, 3Ds Max, Keyshot, Zbrush and have a vested interest in product design. You will have the opportunity to utilise the combination of your 3D & 2D skillset to take ownership of the design process from original ideation and concept visuals, through to final factory-ready artwork.

**What the job involves**
- Determine user needs and translate business goals into product opportunities
- Deliver cost saving and value add solutions, in line with customer briefs, that are optimised for efficient manufacture and to the required performance standard
- Facilitate concept explorations to drive bold and innovative thinking
- Take design briefs and use suitable equipment to create industry leading samples for customers
- Interpret and distil complex strategies and requirements, and visually depict the ideal design
- Work to provide tailored solutions to all our customers, whilst ensuring you take a caring approach to the business requirements and challenges
- Access consumer tastes, market trends and product details to conceptualise package designs
- Ensure goals are met, whilst considering branding, performance, and cost implications
- Generate design reports on an-ongoing basis to support proposals made to our customers
- Produce design documents to the required quality standard including specifications, artwork layouts, visuals, optimisation reports and value presentations
- Proactively build strong relationships with engineering partners, researchers, writers, and fellow product teams throughout the design process
- You will be responsible for creating elegant and strategic products and services, challenge the status quo and help bring about internal change in the way we do things.
- Play an active role in developing the brand by working closely with Marketing to ensure products are aligned with brand message and vision
- Craft technical specifications of products considering budgets and materials
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Create 3D visuals and mock-ups required for trade shows and marketing requirements
- Develop iconography, typography, colour palette, and style guidelines

**Desired skills and experience**
- 5+ years of experience with product design
- Experience working to user-cantered design processes
- Track record of cost saving projects
- Demonstrate cost-effective packaging projects that meets customer needs
- Adobe CC experience (Illustrator / Photoshop)
- Office 365 experience (Excel / PowerPoint)
- 3D experience (SketchUp Pro or similar)
- Demonstrated experience in 3D development
- Proven ability to help a team navigate ambiguity, set vision and strategy for global products
- Previous packaging experience is desirable but not essential
- An understanding of packaging manufacturing processes and techniques
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A portfolio featuring examples of product design work
- Ability to understand technical implications in their design decisions

**Role details**
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Work days: Monday to Friday (40 hrs)
- Schedule: 8-hour work Day
- Salary: £28,000-£35,000 per year (depending on experience)
