St Aidan’s is a Church of England Academy which is at the heart of the local community of Mill Hill, Blackburn. We are part of Cidari (Blackburn Diocese Multi Academy Trust). An exciting opportunity has arisen for the Academy to appoint an exceptional, highly motivated, experienced qualified teacher as SENCO.

As a member of a family of academies, we work alongside other church schools to continue to raise standards whilst preserving a very distinctive Christian ethos. Visits to our good Academy are encouraged.

We value the important role that a SENCO completes in school and will ensure that the time and resources are provided so they can complete their role to a high standard. This means you would become part of a supportive team who is passionate about meeting the needs of our pupils, working together to achieve this. This team includes a qualified speech therapist and on site counsellors. We work closely with outside agencies, parents and our MAT.

**Are you**:

- Able to play a key role within the Academy to ensure that all pupils with additional needs make accelerated progress in their learning and achieve to the very best of their ability.
- Able to directly contribute to pupils' accelerated progress through high quality sustained teaching of intervention support based upon a detailed knowledge of their specific needs.
- Able to lead by example, with high expectations of yourself and others, promoting our Academy vision, values and aims.
- Able to contribute to the strategic development and direction of the academy in line with the Academy improvement plan.
- Able to provide leadership and direction to support and meet the needs of children with SEND.
- Able to provide guidance and support to staff to achieve and maintain a good quality of provision for pupils with SEND.
- To analyse assessment data from a variety of sources to inform future whole school planning and resourcing.
- To assist the SLT in undertaking delegated professional duties.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Qualified Teacher Status
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or be willing start this within the first two years of employment)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development; attendance on courses, INSET, action research, personal study etc. with clear impact indicators
- Commitment to continuing professional development as necessary to develop in role
- Ability to contribute to professional leadership and management of a staff team and contribute to the work of other teams to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for all pupils across the school
- Experience of using data and data analysis to drive up standards
- Clear knowledge and experience in all issues relating to the safeguarding of children
