**Responsible to**:Care Manager

**Purpose**:To care for male and female residents in a manner, which respects their dignity and privacy and promotes their independence, working individually and as a team. Supervise care, kitchen and domestic staff and support care manager in all aspects of the home’s management.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- To assist residents, supervise and train carers, with personal care which includes; using the bath, bed bath or shower, foot and nail care, shampooing hair, shaving, combing or brushing hair, mouth and denture care, use of commode or urinal, toileting, preparing for bed, getting out of bed, washing and dressing.
- To help residents, and support carers to help residents, with physical and mental activity, this could involve talking to them, taking them out for a walk or day trip, reading to them, writing on their behalf, assisting with their hobbies and recreation activities.
- To dispense medication in line with legal and company policy
- To assist, and supervise staff, with serving resident’s meals and other domestic duties.
- To support, monitor and train key workers in completion of care plans.
- Maintain up to date care plans and records for all residents from beginning to end.
- To care for the dying and support care staff through bereavement process.
- To answer nurse call alarms, greet visitors and answer the door.
- To provide supervision to carers
- To support and monitor care, kitchen and domestic staff to carry out their duties competently, safely and efficiently
- To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home.
- To comply with SCSWIS, Fire, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
- To comply with Health and Safety, and Employee booklets.
- To have a working knowledge of, contribute to and uphold Arberglen’s policies and procedures.
- To ensure care notes and any other form of written report including personnel and health and safety are read and kept up to date.
- To take part in (or chair) staff meetings and internal/ external training as required.
- To give clinical care to residents as authorised, trained and directed.
- To carry out fire drills, evacuations and fire equipment checks in line with current fire safety requirements
- To handle and record petty cash transactions
- To induct new members of staff, carrying out checks and paperwork as necessary.
- To liaise with external agencies (doctors, Social Services, Contractors etc) for the health and welfare of residents, staff and the home.
- To promote the values of St Serf’s at all times.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above it may be necessary to perform other duties not listed. Consideration will be given to your skills and status when requesting you perform these

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

Pay: £12.75 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 40 per week
