**Job summary**:
The Identification Bureau conducts fingerprint comparison and searching activity in support of Agency criminal justice outcomes and international fingerprint requirements on behalf of the UK. The team additionally has responsibility of UK Gatekeeper for Prüm Fingerprint Exchange, supporting policing partners with the administration of search quota allocation and fair usage.

To meet increasing demand for our fingerprint services following recent modernisation, the advancement of new fingerprint capabilities and an increase in the Crime Scene Investigator workforce, the role of G5 Fingerprint Imaging Officer has been developed to provide valuable support to the existing operational fingerprint capability.

**Job description**:
The Fingerprint Imaging Officer will deliver a bespoke imaging response in relation to NCA casework submissions to an evidential standard and in an accredited environment. They will provide support to develop automated fingerprint workflows, systems, procedures and staff in order to meet NCA Forensic Services objectives and drive efficiency in technical service delivery.

**Person specification**:
The Fingerprint Imaging Officer role entails processing fingerprint data using specialist forensic software, DCS4/5 (enhancement only), Lucia Dactyscope, LiftSP, Photoshop, Nist Editors and national fingerprint systems in accordance with Agency procedure, ISO 17025 standards and FSR Codes; produce accurate reports to support NCA core business and process fingerprint imagery as required, assuring rules on handling digital media, data retention and legal provisions are followed.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Receipt, storage and reproduction of fingerprint exhibits in appropriate digital or hard copy format.
- Enhancement of 2D and 3D friction ridge detail suitable for subsequent fingerprint comparison.
- Administration and maintenance of Specialist Software and Equipment for all fingerprint workflows.
- Development of digital workflows for the enhancement of fingerprint inputs from variety of sources.
- Create and maintain biometric records using IDENT1 and Specialist Collections and carry out relevant tasks to ensure rapid processing.
- Contribute to validation of technical activity and implement departmental procedures in line with forensic regulation and accreditation standards.
- Produce statements and take responsibility for imaging evidence.
- Perform a range of work activities utilising specialist databases and software in support of NCA Casework and other international functions.

**Qualifications**:

- The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:
- Broad knowledge and practical forensic experience in photography/digital imaging environment

or- Nationally recognised forensic qualification such as FERRT/FLO.
