My client are an established and leading specialist supplier to the offshore industries.

Based in Rawtenstall, the company have experienced great success and have some pretty aggressive growth plans in place over the next five years.

The Sourcing Manager is a new role to the business and will join the Supply Chain function but concentrate on exploring new international supplier markets outside of where the company already operate (China / India).

Upon joining the business, you will be expected to analyse the existing supplier relationships, spotting gaps in the supply chain before sourcing new suppliers and establishing these relationships for the wider business.

As a Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for creating maximum value for Slingco through the development, execution, and effective management of strategic sourcing plans for finished goods and/or direct materials sourced from external manufacturingpartners and/or material suppliers.

(While this is a Purchasing position, this role is not responsible for operational purchasing, planning and managing purchase orders)

**Key Responsibilities**

Your key duties and responsibilities:

- Strategic Sourcing Plan Development - you will be responsible for engaging the key category stakeholders and facilitating the development of a global strategic sourcing strategy.
- Procurement - you will identify, select, and contract suppliers.
- Supplier Management - you will be responsible for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), monitoring, measuring and managing supplier performance with respect to cost, quality, service and risk.
- Continuous Improvement - you will identify and drive the execution of continuous improvement initiatives that will generate value through increase supplier performance or capabilities.
- Responsibilities extend across the finished goods category - defined as a group or groups of related goods.
- Responsibilities include sourcing of miscellaneous finished goods and external manufacturing categories/services as assigned
- In the role, you will create a network of key stakeholders and executive sponsors across manufacturing, quality, regulatory, R&D, engineering, sales, marketing, and finance.

**Person Specification**

You have experience in sourcing either direct materials or finished goods, or experience working in a manufacturing productivity improvement role.

You are a results-orientated individual who is comfortable in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment, and you have a strong understanding of financial and cost accounting principles, as well as of the fundamental drivers of improvements acrossa variety of business areas.
- Continually strives to achieve the best total value for the business across all areas of sourcing.
- Proactively identifies key issues and delivers efficient responses to sourcing and productivity issues.
- Able to define, oversee and execute business analyses for dealing with complex issues relating to both business process improvement and sourcing opportunities.
- Able to guide and develop reasoned solutions, recommendations, and means for measuring on going performance.
- Understanding of complex commodities sourcing strategies and manufacturing processes.
- Strategic thinking, problem solving and facilitation & influencing skills. Ability to lead, persuade and convince.
- Research best practices across a variety of industries and disciplines and translates into relevant actions for improvements within the business.
- Displays organisational savvy and knows how to leverage networks to bring information and points of view from different areas both inside and outside the company.
- Understands the market dynamics and cost drivers in the supply markets/manufacturing environment in their area of responsibility and can articulate an effective sourcing strategy.
- Ability to analyse pricing proposals and utilise an analytical and fact-based approach to drive negotiations and value generation.
- Demonstrates highly developed analytical and negotiation skills.
- Understands, endorses, and practices the formal strategic sourcing methodology and its tools.
- Creates a network of key stakeholders and executive sponsors across manufacturing, quality, regulatory, R&D, engineering, sales, marketing and finance.
