Description

Gain valuable experience working with 2-19-year olds whilst studying on day-release at New College Durham.

You will support teachers in schools by planning and preparing for lessons, developing professional relationships, encouraging positive behaviour and assessing learning.

You will be working alongside teachers in the workplace, learning about schools as organisations and how they can further their learning once qualified.

**Modules Studied**:
There are 16 mandatory units that must be completed prior to your End Point Assessment. They include:
Schools as Organisations

Health and Safety

Safeguarding

Professional relationships

Development

Positive behaviour

Support activities

Maths and English

Support ICT

Support assessment for learning

Professional development

Speech, language/communication

Bilingual learners

Special needs

Transitions

Extra Curricular activities.

Teaching and Assessment

You will be expected to complete written assignments for each unit, as well as reflective accounts and professional discussions, and be observed in the workplace by an Apprenticeship Skills Coordinator.

Once you have completed the diploma, along with the certificates for maths and English, you will enter Gateway for End Point Assessment (EPA). This will be an observation in the workplace, carried out by an independent assessor from the awarding organisation, and then a professional discussion around a portfolio of evidence.

**Working hours**:
32.5 hours a week.

**Wage**:
Current minimum apprenticeship wage.

Entry requirements

GCSE English / Mathematics grade 4/C desirable.

Training to be provided

One day a week at New College Durham for training.
