Communication and Relationship Skills Use developed communication skills to liaise with internal and external colleagues and service users to ensure effective actions are taken and reviewed to enable safeguarding of children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect. Offer support and advice on safeguarding issues and act as a resource to BCHFT staff and other agencies as necessary. To ensure that information is shared in a timely and accurate manner to support vulnerable children and adults. Use secure administration systems and processes, both paper and IT based, in line with BCHFT record keeping policy.

Analytical and Judgmental Skills Provide advice and support to BCHFT staff, as appropriate, on issues relating to safeguarding. Provide clinical advice in respect of individual cases and act as a resource to BCHFT practitioners, seeking guidance from Specialist Safeguarding Practitioners/Named Nurses. Act as a child/adult protection supervisor under the guidance of Associate Named Nurse. Ensure that practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, Trust Policies and Procedures and the Children Safeguarding Assurance Partnership Policy.

Planning and Organisational Skills Plan and prioritise own project/workload. Responsibilities for Policy and Service Development To contribute to and facilitate BCHFT safeguarding training programme. To contribute to designing and delivering training to all levels of staff, including mandatory training and induction in respect of safeguarding/MCA, as required. Be involved in and facilitate training events, as required.

Assume responsibility for the maintenance of own professional knowledge and utilise a reflective and analytical approach to practice, in relation to safeguarding/MCA. Participate in the development of the BCHFT safeguarding competency framework process to identify training and developmental needs within the workforce. Proposes, manages, evaluates and implements new service developments/projects, in conjunction with the safeguarding leadership team. Responsibilities for Finance To contribute to any income generation projects within the safeguarding team.

To contribute to any cost reduction initiatives implemented within the safeguarding team. Responsibility for Human Resources To advise the Associate Named Nurse of Safeguarding of any LADO or PiPOT cases. To adhere to any relevant HR policies and procedures. Responsibility for Information Resources To maintain up-to-date records and electronic diaries in accordance with BCHFT policies and procedures.

To maintain and contribute to the design and development of a data set that will collect and record information as appropriate for the purpose of statistical data collection. To facilitate and maintain accurate records in respect of safeguarding/MCA supervision. Assist the safeguarding team in providing expert health advice in relation to multi-agency information sharing systems. Research and Development To disseminate best practice by delivering training and attending Network team meetings, as required.

Access regular clinical, managerial and safeguarding supervision, in accordance with the service line model. Maintain current knowledge base and professional skills in accordance to the role. Ensure mandatory training is up-to-date in line with Trust policy. Act as a positive clinical role model for BCHFT.
