An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the EfM department at the Great Western Hospital as an Estates Project Officer. You will join a small team who are responsible for the delivery of building projects to improve patient care both within the PFI estate and the Trusts own properties.

You will be an organised, confident communicator and able to work independently to deliver smaller projects with the support of the PFI provider. You will support the project team with project admin, including raising orders and approving invoices.

You will be primarily based at Great Western Hospital and will be required to attend properties in the Swindon area as required.

1. Assisting in the design of projects by providing specialist knowledge of the complexity involved with building, electrical and mechanical installations. Contribute to working drawings and specification of work and the updating of estates records and drawings estate systems where accuracy is a requirement.
1. Engage full user consultation in the development of the project brief, and in their acceptance of the final design solution by using clear and concise written, electronic and verbal communication. The post holder will ensure that all relevant specialities have been consulted, e.g. Infection Control, Health and Safety and Fire as required, and used Trust procedures and documents as necessary.
1. Ensure all stakeholders of the projects understand the complex and technical requirements of the projects and ensures any necessary co-operation is in place.
1. Outside of PFI arrangements, management of contractors working within the Trust on Projects that are the responsibility of the post holder, or to assist departments with the management of their contractors working on site. This includes where contractor’s risk assessments and method statements are required for works of complex or contentious nature, ensure these are written specifically for the job, are of appropriate quality and are in place at the correct time and approved before the commencement of the work.

1. Monitor the works whilst in progress on site for compliance with the works request, the specification of work, the quality of the work and the performance of the contractors. The works shall be inspected on completion and where necessary arrange for substandard work to be rectified to the satisfaction of the client.
1. Ensure the completed installations including plant and equipment are witnessed tested and commissioned in compliance with the required specifications and standards, with the requisite certification, records and as fitted drawings.
1. To manage the administration for variations and sundry requests, monitoring project progress and authorising the payment of invoices on completion of the works.
1. To maintain a document library of all EfM non PFI projects so that all information is kept centrally and in a user friendly format.
