The School of Health and Life Sciences of the Teesside University seeks to hire two exceptional early-stage researcher fellows (ESRs) with extensive experience in computational biology and in vivo or in vitro modelling or in the life sciences. This is a unique opportunity for ambitious graduates to further develop their career by undertaking three-year double-degree PhD positions (with University of Bologna, Italy) as part of a new EU funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network TClock4AD, Targeting Circadian Clock Dysfunction in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).

These two ESR Fellows will be funded by UKRI (EPSRC) and carry out the following two projects: 1) Development of a circadian rhythm-based drug repurposing strategy for AD; 2) Circadian control of Alzheimer’s disease in Drosophila melanogaster.

Applicants will be required to meet the following eligibility criteria:

- Should not have resided in UK for more than 12 months in the last three years immediately before the appointment
- Have not been awarded a doctoral degree at the time of the appointment, and
- At the time of appointment, should be within the first four years of their research career (full-time equivalent, excluding career breaks, and measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree entitling them to embark on a doctorate).

The ESRs must possess excellent problem-solving, communication and technical presentation skills. They should be creative and have excellent organisational abilities to work both independently and as part of a team.
