This post offers an exciting opportunity to gain training and experience in Cardiology and Medical Education. The aim of this post is to further develop and improve teaching of Undergraduate medical students within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners for a Teaching Fellowship, jointly supervised by the clinical collaborative and the Undergraduate Department within The James Cook University Hospital, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Close collaboration and flexible working between the two directorates is integral to the appointments, to balance clinical and teaching commitments.
Candidates should have an interest in cardiology as a career and be working towards completion of the MRCP/PACES exams. Candidates who have already passed PACES will be allowed to participate in the cardiology registrar rota and will be trained at that level.
Main duties of the job
The award of the Teaching Fellowship will allow the post-holders to participate in clinical activities and training within the cardiology department and have the opportunity to participate in clinical research. Fellows will also have a definite commitment to delivering and developing undergraduate teaching at all levels at The James Cook University Hospital. The balance of teaching and clinical/research activity will be determined by the needs of the individual and the changing requirements over the academic year, but it is expected that equal time can be spent in both areas.
Working for our organisation
The post-holder will be given the opportunity to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. The post is for 12 months and salary scale is Locally Employed Doctors contract (2016).
