Position Description:

- This role sits within Engineering Operations (EO10), specifically the Centralised Build & Test Planning Team.
- The department manages test submissions from a range of customer teams, through to internal and external facility allocation.
- Tests encompass the validation of Powertrain systems from base calibration through certification and legislative compliance testing at component, sub-system and system level, Powertrain-in-the-Loop (PiL), Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL)
- The main activity for the role is support the Planning Lead Engineer and to coordinate the preparation for and management of the fixed facilities and systems under test to enable customer test activity across a number of internal and external facilities.
- This will include ownership of project kick off, development of robust plans, co-ordination, reporting, governance (aligned to planning gateway and milestone timings) and control of work and team activity.
- As part of our mission to deliver world class facilities, the team are required to conform with regulatory and certification standards.
- The role requires you to adhere to and generate processes, risk assessments and future strategy plans to provide the quality, capability and capacity required, in a safe environment, within agreed timelines.

Skills Required:

- Project Planning & Project Management
- Use of digital planning tools such as MS Project/ Wrike/ Smartsheet/ JIRA/ Gantt Project etc.
- Understanding of automotive unit testing including electrification (Batteries, EDU, Power Electronics)

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

- Work with customer groups to ensure adherence to produce test plan forecast for appropriate facilities.
- Deliver annual budgeting through interrogation and management of customer requests.
- Produce and agree baseline plan for facilities (12month rolling view)
- Support delivery of test plan through effective scheduling onto test rigs (both internal / external)
- Monitor and report on adherence / conformity to synthetic timing in accordance with agreed schedules
- Ownership of Kick-off (initial information capture from internal customers) and Gate 0 (initial design capture)
- Produce KPIs for team and reports to Lead Engineer (and management where required)
- Support internal process documentation maintenance and governance (the Client Way)
- To support continuous improvement activity with the goal of improving test efficiency and/or product quality
- To support activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, e.g. IATF TS16949, OHSAS18001, ISO 14001
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Experience Required:

- Project planning, management and control experience and/or qualification
- Able to work independently, as well as achieve the full benefits of collective effort from a wider team Clear and confident communications
- Ability to maintain focus under pressure with high level of resilience
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Ability to accurately and concisely present complex ideas or project issues to a diverse audience
- Customer-first attitude with a passion for continuous improvement
- Ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, and process and Single Point Lesson (SPL) documents.
- A full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification

Experience Preferred:

- Technical expertise and experience of test facility and vehicle electrification component testing
- Knowledgeable in electrification and hybrid technologies

Experienced or trained in Agile methodologies, Six Sigma, Black Belt and Green Belt Training and certification.
- Experience with IATF16949, TS16949 or ISO9001 standards and requirements
- Educated to Degree level in a Planning, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field
- Knowledge of python, SQL or other API to support digital transformation

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

**Salary**: £14.50-£22.21 per hour
