The Buyer plays a critical role in supporting the procurement function of the organisation based in the United Kingdom. This position is responsible for coordinating purchasing activities, maintaining supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required by the company. The Buyer collaborates with the internal procurement stakeholders and suppliers to meet the organisation's procurement needs while adhering to procurement policies and procedures.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Support the Procurement Department in all procurement related activities.
- Serve as the primary contact within the procurement team for all Supplier requests.
- Support the Assistant buyers in their day-to-day activities and be the go-to person an offering mentoring to help them grow within the business.
- Purchase Order Processing: Create and process purchase orders based on approved requisitions and purchase requests from various departments. Ensure accuracy in the order details, quantities, delivery timelines, and pricing.
- Supplier Management: Assist in the maintenance and management of approved suppliers, including contact information, pricing agreements, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate terms, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Vendor Sourcing: Assist in identifying potential vendors and conducting market research to source the best products and services at competitive prices. Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and proposals.
- Price and Cost Analysis: Analyse pricing trends and market conditions to negotiate favourable terms with suppliers. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and service levels.
- Procurement Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the procurement function. Suggest and implement initiatives to streamline purchasing processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with procurement policies, regulations, and ethical standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to purchasing activities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, particularly the whole Procurement Team and including finance, operations, Commercial and inventory management teams, to understand their procurement needs and provide timely and effective procurement support.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or buying role, preferably within the water and utilities industry.
- Knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.
- Familiarity with sourcing and negotiation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse data and make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with relevant UK procurement regulations and best practices.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
