Money Laundering Reporting Officer

**JOB PURPOSE**
The purpose of this role is to take ownership and responsibility of Financial Crime related tasks within the 2nd line Risk Function and to be the primary contact and liaison between the Business and the Financial Crime Team with regard to Financial Crime matters. The MLRO role will cover all aspects of Financial Crime ensuring quality assurance and monitoring in relation to CDD/EDD, including account opening, transaction monitoring and any other ongoing monitoring requirements set out in the policies and procedures of the bank or required as part of any projects. The MLRO will also be required to ensure comprehensive AML training is place. MLRO will be responsible for reporting on financial crime matters through Governance, oversight of critical process such as SARs, undertaking regular assessments and providing the MLRO report to Board. This role will include supporting whistleblowing processes. The role report to the CRO working with senior stakeholders across the bank.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Financial Crime (Subject Matter Expert)**
- To act as the senior point of contact in respect of Financial Crime matters across the bank.
- To ensure that account opening standards, reviews are maintained appropriately, provide advice and guidance to staff, as required and ensuring MI is robust i.e. ensure that CDD/EDD processes are in line with market standards and ensure quality assurance is carried out on customer files, at onboarding and periodic reviews stages, and that transaction monitoring processes including scenarios are in line with appetite.
- To lead activities required to ensure quality of customer files and documents are complete and up to date in line with regulatory requirements.
- To ensure transactions monitoring reports are accurately completed and in a timely manner. Oversee process to investigate any transactions monitoring exceptions generated through manual or automated tools.
- To review suspicious activities reports to the Financial Crime Department/MLRO and report as required.
- To ensure that sanctions screening and alerts process is appropriate.
- To arrange regular AML training / briefing sessions by the Financial Crime Department.
- To follow up on staff mandatory training and ensure all staff complete Financial Crime training in a timely manner.
- To provide support and guidance in respect of Financial Crime matters.
- To provide AML/Sanctions/SARs related training, when required.
- To help gather and report the necessary MI on Financial Crime related matters.
- To attend Financial Crime Dept/MLRO monthly meetings to discuss emerging risks and communicate any issues or suggested improvements to Financial Crime operational processes/procedures.

**EXPERIENCE**
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 2 years banking experience in the UK and familiar with the AML and Counter Terrorism Financing Regulation set out by the FCA.
Experience of successful team working.
Fluent in conversational and written English, educated to a minimum of GCSE standard or equivalent.
**SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE**
In addition to the Key Competencies, the following skills are preferable;
Good knowledge of UK FCA/PRA regulatory obligations and UK AML and Terrorist Finance regulatory framework.
Comfortable working autonomously and taking the initiative when needed with little supervision.
Capacity to analyse and summarise reports and information where required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A responsible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible approach to work.
Ability to work effectively under pressure to a high standard.
Ability to work to tight deadlines.
Good strategic thinking and a proactive approach.
Computer literate.
