Do you have extensive post registration experience (including experience in all obstetric emergencies with recent exposure to working on labour ward) and a mentorship qualification?
Are you interested in developing your planning and teaching skills?
The purpose of the role is to help our newly qualified midwives to become confident, competent practitioners.
This post is not suitable for newly qualified midwives or international midwives who have not completed their OSCE.
This is an innovative post requiring flexibility in your working pattern to cover days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. You’re responsible for ensuring your rota will be responsive to the needs of the preceptees.
You will lead in the support of newly qualified midwives in collaboration with the team responsible for Education, Senior Midwives and external organisations.
You will be required to deliver and facilitate a preceptorship programme in collaboration with specialist speakers and liaise with multidisciplinary colleagues to facilitate this programme.
You will support the newly qualified midwives clinically to facilitate development of skills to ensure high quality care is delivered and that they feel supported within the clinical environments.
You will support the Senior Midwifery team to co-ordinate an environment of life-long learning for midwives.
You will work closely with the Practice Development Midwife (PDM) and the Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) in training and skills for midwives and preceptee midwives

To lead in the support of newly qualified midwives in collaboration with the team responsible for Education, Senior Midwives and external organisations.
To deliver and facilitate a preceptorship programme in collaboration with specialist speakers. Liaise with multidisciplinary colleagues to facilitate this programme.
To support the newly qualified midwives clinically to facilitate development of skills to ensure high quality care is delivered and that they feel supported within the clinical environments
To support the Senior Midwifery team to co-ordinate an environment of life-long learning for midwives.
The Preceptorship Clinical Support Midwife will work closely with the Practice Development Midwife (PDM) and the Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) in training and skills for midwives and preceptee midwives.
**Key Performance**:
Working alongside newly qualified midwives you will support and nurture them to ensure they build on the knowledge and skills acquired during their training to develop into confident and competent midwives
Create a learning environment conducive to all staff acquiring the required knowledge and skills to meet the needs of women/birthing people and their families.
In conjunction with the Head of Midwifery and senior management team, identify training needs through annual training needs analysis and develop the training/development strategy for the unit working to ensure evidence based practice underpins all midwifery care and is responsive to local and national criteria.
Contribute to the development and provision of in-house post-registration training.
Review and influence the development and implementation of policies based on local and national agendas.
Co-ordinate and assist with the audit of midwifery practice to demonstrate compliance with National standards.
