**Who are we?**
First Marine Solutions (FMS) are a service provider to the local and international renewables and oil & gas sectors specialising in the engineering, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of mooring systems for floating platforms. Headquartered in Aberdeen, with a satellite office in Glasgow, FMS also specialise in the planning and undertaking of marine activities related to floating platforms such as towage, vessel loadouts, marine assurance, and assisting with location planning and consent.

**The Role**:
We are looking to recruit a Marine Consultant to contribute to the continued growth of the company through effective client management, project planning, and project execution offshore.

The role will be primarily shore based undertaking Client interaction, project assessment and tendering, project planning and risk analysis, as well as undertaking project close out. Further offshore attendance will be required aboard both vessels and marine platforms as Client Representative, Tow Master, and Deck/Marine Supervisor.

Hybrid / Remote working options are available for this role.

**Key Responsibilities**
- This list does not represent an exhaustive list but indicates the main responsibilities the post holder will be required to undertake:_
- Liaising with Clients daily and updating project status with support.
- Prepare quotes and costs for clients as applicable.
- Prepare operation specific procedures, risk assessments, and any other marine documentation within their competency for Clients, according to industry standards, unit specifications, and client instructions.
- Attend operational meetings with the Clients and update deliverables as required.
- Brief vessels and offshore teams on the operation specific procedure where and when applicable.
- Review and assess project reports after completion of offshore operation.
- Attend offshore operations fulfilling Client Marine Representative, Tow Master, and Deck Supervisor roles as required.
- Undertake Marine Assurance work scopes on behalf of Clients.
- To be familiar with and abide by FMS working practices, Health and Safety Procedures, Quality Assurance System, as well as other regulatory codes where appropriate.
- Ensure the technical requirements of all activities are managed and delivered in accordance with business requirements.
- Maintain awareness of operational and commercial risk relating to the marine function.
- Undertake technical work, contributing to service delivery, in accordance with client and company expectation, in a timely, accurate, safe, and cost-effective manner.
- Maintain knowledge of policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering technical work delivered by the function.
- Maintain and gain knowledge of FMS business activities and maintain technical competency though ongoing professional development such as training courses, work-shadowing, and self-study.
- Participate in consultation and negotiation with Clients regarding work specifications and parameters.
- Optimise the utilisation of resources to ensure revenues and profitability are maximised.
- Maintain effective client interfaces and knowledge of ongoing work scopes.
- Maintain a network of contacts, maintaining a high profile, and promoting and representing the business through professional conduct in and out of work.
- Work with the wider FMS functions to increase the companys involvement with existing clients and promotion of additional FMS services.
- Provide expertise on technical issues to ensure maximum possible conversion ratio from quotes to orders.
- As required, provide input/support to tendering and business development activities.
- Develop and make presentations as necessary, both internally and externally.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Essential:_
- Minimum of OOW Certificate of Competence.
- Effective / Competent MS Office Suite User.
- Several years experience in a similar role.
- Preferred:_
- Degree in Marine Related Subject and/or minimum 2 years experience working onboard offshore vessels as a Bridge team member.
- Offshore Survival Training and Medicals.
- Knowledge of Offshore Mooring Operations.

- Good team worker with good interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively at all business levels, and with confidence and ability to take lead on tasks where indicated.
- Good planning and organisational skills with a mature approach working autonomously.
- High level of communication skills both written and verbal.
- Detail focused and drive to complete tasks to a high standard.
- Comfortable working in a small office environment.
- Proactive and self-motivating, with ability to prioritise tasks and efficiently meet deadlines.
- Ability to work internationally and offshore.
