- We are looking to welcome an approachable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Dementia Adviser who will specifically focus their work to provide dementia support specifically to those individuals living or caring for someone with dementia from diverse and underrepresented communities across Luton.

Luton’s Diverse Community Dementia Support Service is a two-year funded project, with a particular focus on:
Raising awareness of dementia, to reduce stigma, offering timely and culturally appropriate information on support and services.
- Provide dementia support for people with a diagnosis, their carers, and their wider family from communities that traditionally have been underrepresented in the past
- Role manage Community Link Volunteers to enable us to extend our reach people who may have previously been isolated by language, accessibility needs, identity, or background.
- Deliver educational sessions and peer support groups to people living with dementia, their carers and family members.

**About you**
**You will have**:

- A passion for supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them take more control of their lives
- A solid and compassionate understanding of the needs of people affected by dementia
- The ability to work inclusively with people affected by dementia, along with an understanding of the need for client confidentially
- Great communication skills, adapting your approach to ensure understanding at all levels
- Effective networking and influencing skills and the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform under pressure
- Good IT skills and experience working with databases
- The ability to travel across the geographical area independently if/when required

**Your role will include**:

- Although this role is community based there will be a percentage of your week where you will work from home.
- Supporting people to access vital services
- Improving people’s sense of well-being, enabling them to have more control over their lives
- Assisting with the identification of needs and provide information and access to relevant services
- Promoting our amazing service and build relationships with a range of health and social care professionals
- Supporting people affected by dementia with the transition from hospital back to ‘home’
