**Where you’ll be working**
As a Distribution and Transmission Network Operator, SP Energy Networks keeps the electricity flowing to homes and businesses throughout Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Shropshire. One of only six Distribution Operators and one of four Transmission Operators in the UK, our actions are crucial to the decarbonisation of the network. The energy landscape is changing fast as the way our customers and communities generate, consume and interact with energy evolves. Our role is to decarbonise our network through technology and innovation to support the journey to Net Zero. We need to maximise the efficiency of our network to optimise the transmission and distribution of electricity generated from renewables, reducing electricity losses, and allowing us to move away from fossil fuels. With great power comes great responsibility - but we’re up for the challenge
Working in Project Management, you’ll play a vital role in supporting this transition. We’re working hard to deliver large and complex engineering projects to install new infrastructure in the transmission network. We need to improve resilience and build a sustainable network for future generations. Overseeing and managing the technical and engineering aspects of assigned projects, you’ll work closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure that projects are meticulously planned, executed, and completed successfully with a strong focus on health and safety throughout the delivery of the projects.

**What you’ll be doing**
As a Project Management Graduate in SP Energy Networks, you'll have the chance to work on a range of exciting projects. We're all about cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, so you'll get stuck right in developing national infrastructure projects that align with our environmental goals. You’ll play a crucial role in co-ordinating schedules, managing resources and providing technical guidance to team members throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborating with different stakeholders from engineers, contracts managers, suppliers, government agencies and local communities, it’s up to you to keep the project on track. You'll be monitoring project documentation, progress reports and financial records. And of course, you'll be providing regular updates to stakeholders and management on the status of the projects, including the awesome achievements we make in reducing carbon emissions.
You will have the opportunity to develop great commercial skills as you gain experience in the financial and commercial aspects of project management. You’ll explore innovative solutions that reduce carbon footprints and promote renewable energy sources. And we know the importance of environmental practices, so we'll provide continuous training to keep you up to date on the latest advancements and best practices in achieving Net Zero emissions. Not only will you be gaining valuable experience during your programme, but you'll also be making a real impact on our journey towards a sustainable future.
You’ll benefit from a hybrid working approach, with your time split between home, the office and sites, depending on the projects you’re supporting. In addition, travel to different district locations and sites within your licensed area may be required a few times each month.
In case you missed it, you'll find more information on our graduate programme on our Graduates Page (opens in a new window).
**What you’ll bring**
Your strong communication skills will remain paramount in this digital age, as you will be required to effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders and clients through various digital platforms. Furthermore, your excellent numerical skills will be utilised to analyse project outputs and matrices, ensuring that everything is on track and aligned with the project objectives. An agile and analytical approach to problem-solving will be crucial in navigating challenges and finding innovative solutions amidst the rapidly changing energy landscape. Being highly organized and skilled in project planning and execution will continue to be vital for success, as you will need to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget, all while embracing the latest technological advancements and industry best practices. Additionally, you’ll need a driving license (or be working towards it) to enable you to visit remote sites. Finally, you’ll have an Honours Degree at
